I’m still writing about cruises! A friend and I cruised to Hawaii. We both live on the east coast so we flew to San Diego where we boarded our ship. It took a week to get to Hawaii so we had plenty of time to take part in many of the activities on board. Plus having extra time to lounge around the pool catching the rays. I had a pretty nice tan after the cruise!
We stopped for one day at each of the five islands. During the night the ship would move to the next island, so after breakfast we were all set to start touring the island. These were tours that we had signed up for before we even started our trip. That was one of the hardest tasks to complete! You had to find one or two tours for each day that you were on an island. AND you and your friend probably wanted to to go on the same tour. Otherwise, you would be separated for the day. For a lot of people that isn’t a problem, but as two older ladies we felt more comfortable being with someone who knows you well.
We managed to see some of each island, but I would like to revisit a couple of the islands and stay awhile. All the islands are beautiful and each exhibits its own unique charm. It was a busy five days for we packed as much as we could in the time that we had on each island.
The one thing that I was sorry for was that I didn’t tour the World War II Memorial that was over the water where the Japanese bombers killed so many of our servicemen. But my friend had already seen it and it took up most of the day.
When we had visited the islands, we headed back to San Diego, so we had five more restful days after our island hopping.
My son and his family live in the San Diego area. This time we made sure that we had enough time between ship and plane to visit.
We both thoroughly enjoyed the trip even though my friend had a day or two of seasickness in one area where we had rough seas. Even though I would like to spend more time on a couple of islands, I would take that cruise again in a heartbeat if I were able.
